Mulberry

This time I come across another plant where I accidentally found some info from the newspaper. The Mulberry! I like berry very much no matter raw or jam. Unfortunately Penang is hot & humid & is not easy to have other berries tree to survive (Tell me if anyone success to grow it) except the mulberry. I hardly to get the cuttings from Selangor but only lately that I come across there are quite a number of people have the plant at their garden!( Not good to increase the carbon foot print for delivering from all the way from Selangor to Penang)

I started with a cuttings of 15cm and I try in 2 different ways. Option 1 is to insert into the pot with earth under the shaddy place. The other option is to put them into the container with water. I realised that the one in water has the leaves come out more faster.

After 3 weeks time, surprisingly "Tang Tang Tang Tang"  can you see the fruits! Yes, pink & red in color.
Enlarge a little bit...

I heard that if the fruit still in red color, it taste sour.

Another week later...the fruit become slightly dark in color.

Hope can grow bigger

The forth week I finally unplug it. It really taste sweet! Of course not the kind of honey sweet taste but better than local grow strawberry. The tree can grow very big so if you don't have enough space, trim it. Also the leaves can be dried out to make as tea leaves.

Happry Days!
